Caring for Your Mouthpiece

At JJ Babbitt, we are committed to ensuring that your mouthpiece performs optimally for years to come. Whether you’re using our resin-based plastic or vulcanized hard rubber mouthpieces, here are a few tips to keep your mouthpiece in top condition:

Tooth Protection

We recommend applying adhesive-backed tooth protectors, also known as patches. These not only prevent tooth marks but also provide an added layer of cushion and comfort for a smoother playing experience.

Cleaning & Maintenance

After each use, it's important to clean your mouthpiece. Keep a disinfecting or sterilizing spray in your case, along with a neck and mouthpiece swab, to make cleaning quick and easy. We recommend using products from FAXX, Superslick, or BG—brands we trust and use at exhibitions. If these products are unavailable, warm water and mild liquid dish soap work just as well. Ensure that the mouthpiece is thoroughly rinsed and dried afterward.

Avoiding Harmful Chemicals

Please avoid using any chemical sprays that contain ammonia or solvents, as they can damage your mouthpiece. Additionally, avoid using plating polish on gold-plated mouthpieces, as these substances are not recommended for items that come into oral contact.
