Chris French is a highly accomplished musician, holding both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in clarinet performance from the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. After completing his formal training, Chris returned to Los Angeles to establish himself as a free-lance artist. There, he collaborated with major symphonies and worked in recording and film studios. He shared stages with legendary performers such as Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra Jr., and Henry Mancini.

In addition to his prowess as a performer, Chris is renowned for his technical expertise in woodwind instruments. He founded C. French Woodwinds, a highly respected repair and customization business in Van Nuys, California. This venture attracted top-tier professional musicians from across North America who sought his meticulous craftsmanship. His technical knowledge and mechanical skills later propelled him into roles with prominent companies like The Selmer Company, Eastman Winds, Gemeinhardt, Altus, and Powell Flutes, where he contributed significantly to product design and technological innovation.

In 2020, Chris French joined JJ Babbitt, a leader in saxophone and clarinet mouthpieces, where he serves as Director of Engineering. In this role, Chris oversees product quality, consistency, and the development of new designs, ensuring that JJ Babbitt’s iconic brands not only maintain their legacy of craftsmanship but also embrace cutting-edge technology.
